According to The Hollywood Reporter it seems that HBO has renegotiated the contracts with several of the main stars of Game of Thrones, to include the potential of a seventh season.
Now for a show that is known for killing off main characters this news may seem like it could lead to spoilers. You might be thinking “if shes signed on until season 7, there’s no possibility they can die sooner.” And that’s where you’d be wrong. HBO has only signed them on to potentially be in the seventh season – the other side of the coin is that the character might die sooner, and because of that loose out on their large paycheck.
That being said, the actors who have signed on for the seventh season will be listed below the cut.
The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Adewale Akinnuoye-Abaje will be joining the cast of Game of Thrones in season 5. Adewale has previously been in HBO’s OZ, Thor: The Dark World, and played Mr.Eko in Lost. It should also be noted that Adewale was in Pompeii which starred Kit Harrington.
Not much has been said about the character that Adewale will playing. All we know now is that he will be playing a character named Malko, who has not appeared in the books.
My best guess is that we’ll be seeing Adewale’s character somewhere in Essos. But wherever he may be appearing I hope he gets a somewhat substantial role, Adewale is a great actor and I can’t wait to see him in Game of Thrones. However, it is a bit sad that they couldn’t find a role from the books for him to play. Based on the sheer physical size of Adewale I’m leaning toward a pit fighter in Meereen. But because I doubt they would ever spend to much time focussing in on a single pit fighter I hope that’s not the cast. Whatever happens I hope Adewale gets a chance to show off his acting chops.
So where do you think we’ll be seeing Adewale appearing? And what do you think of another show created character being added to the roster? Let me know you’r thoughts on everything in the comments below!
In a recent post from Watchers on the Wall, it was announced that Hannah Waddingham will be taking on the role of Septa Unella. Now for those of you who haven’t read the books there isn’t to much to be said about her. She is a septa – obviously – which adds to the continuing growth of the Seven’s importance in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones.
Reportedly HBO described Septa Unella as “a septa serving the Faith of the Seven. As a member of the Most Devout, the highest ranking clergy, she enforces strict adherence to her religion’s laws.” This description of Septa Unella sounds absolutely perfect for what I was looking for in this role. A quick note, the Most Devout is the council of the highest ranking clergy for the Faith of the Seven.
I’m glad to finally see the casting confirmed for Septa Unella. However I am curious if we will see any of the other Septa’s cast – Such as Septa Moelle, or Septa Scolera. If Septa Unella is the only septa to be cast, and given a name, that is fine by me as she holds the largest role of any Septa.
So what do you think of this casting? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Well it looks like Ramsay’s favorite girl, Myranda, will be returning for season 5 of Game of Thrones. Now Myranda didn’t play a very large role in season 4, mainly only helping Ramsay hunt down and kill another of Ramsay’s companions. But her role in the this coming season may be increased.
According to the actresses CV she will be appearing in episodes directed by Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, and David Nutter. Now with this information we know she will be potentially appearing in the following episodes: 503, 504, 505, 506, 509, and 510. Clearly with the potential of appearing in so many episodes we can assume her role in the show will be increased.
But what exactly could she be doing? Well there’s a few possibility, but those will be listed below the break for spoiler reasons.
Casting for Game of Thrones extras started yesterday in Osuna, and will continue throughout today. Game of Thrones is looking to narrow the casting down to a short list of 2,500 people (1,250 men and 1,250 women), and from there narrow it down further to 500 people who will actually make it onto set.
These extras will be filming in both Seville and or Osuna between October 10 and 29. We know that Spain will be used for scenes in Dorne and Meereen.
The casting call was looking for men and women between the ages of 18 and 60, of all races. “Men with good (not bodybuilders) physical conditions,” with short and medium length hair. It was also mentioned that the men should be prepared to grow or cut their facial hair. As for the women, they were looking for thin women with long, uniform, hair. No applicants could have green, red, violet, blue, pink, or any colored hair – apparently they were only looking for applicants with brunette hari. Also no applicants with large visible tattoos were allowed.
Last week Entertainment Weekly announced that Mark Gatiss (Tycho Nestoris) would be returning for season 5 of Game of Thrones. Tycho Nestoris was the Iron Banker who met with Stannis and Davos – and in doing so backed Stannis Baratheon.
Because Gatiss has such a busy year – also filming for Doctor Who and Sherlock – I wonder if his screen time in season 5 will be equal to that of season 4. In season 4 he appeared for only one episode, and in that episode “The Laws of Gods and Men” only appeared on screen for a few minutes. Regardless of how much screen time Gatiss will get I’m looking forward to seeing the show give more time to the Iron Bank.
Spoilers for A Feast for Crows below the break!
Our newest actor has joined the ranks for season 5 of Game of Thrones. Michael Condron will be taking on the role of Bowen Marsh. This confirmation came through Michael’s agency, initially spotted by Watchers on the Wall.
According to Michael’s CV he will be appearing in three episodes this season. The three episodes he’ll be making an appearance in will be directed by Michael Slovis, Mark Mylod, and Jeremy Podeswa. So taking this into consideration we can expect to see Michael in three of the following episodes: 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, or 506.
Bowen Marsh is a man of the Night’s Watch, and is the First Steward. Now not much has happened with the character in the show so far – Yes, Bowen Marsh has appeared in the show but just as a background character with a few lines. But all that said season 5 will definitely have much more to offer for the character.
HUGE spoilers below the break! Only read on if you’ve finished A Dance with Dragons.
Another new actor joins the cast for season 5 of Game of Thrones. According to a recent article from Watchers on the Wall, Gary Pillai will be taking on the role of the Merchant Captain.
According to the actors CV, Gary will be appearing in two episodes directed by Mark Mylod – and as we know Mark Mylod will be directing episodes 2 and 3 for season 5. So what exactly will Pillai be doing in these episodes? Well as of now it isn’t quite clear. However according to Watchers on the Wall’s article it appears that Pillai will be interacting with the main cast.
Below the break you’ll find my theories as to what the Merchant Captain will be doing in season 5. Spoilers through A Dance with Dragons.
Finishing up with our posts on the new characters announced in HBO’s video Season 5 – New Cast Members. This time we’re talking about Yezzan. The actor who’ll be playing Yezzan is Enzo Cilenti, who has previously been in movies such as Next, In the Loop, and The Fourth Kind.
Yezzan gets a very brief description in HBO’s press release:
Yezzan was an extremely wealthy slave trader before Daenerys Targaryen outlawed the slave trade.
I’m a bit surprised with the casting decision of Enzo. Yezzan is described in the books as being so obese that he can no longer stand, and as we can see Enzo Cilenti isn’t even a bit overweight. Since they are deciding to get rid of this physical characteristic of Yezzan I wonder what else will be changed about the character. Of course I imagine they are simply throwing the weight issue to the side, and will instead include some other health issues to deal with this problem. I’m also curious to see if things such as his “collection” will be kept for the show. Overall I would have liked to see an actor cast who better fit the description of Yezzan, that we get in the books.
The rest of my thoughts will be found below the break. There will be some heavy spoilers below, so none-book readers stop reading here.
From HBO’s video Season 5 – New Cast Members we saw that the first recast had happened. Last season we had several recasting’s, even our second recast for a single character (The Mountain). But for this season the new face of Myrcella Bartheon will be the actress Nell Tiger Free. Nell Tiger Free has appeared in Mr.Stink, as well as an episode of Endeavour.
For those of you who forgot Myrcella was last seen in season 2 getting on a ship to sail to Dorne. Mycella was betrothed to Trystane in a marriage alliance between House Martell and House Lannister. With the recent events in Kings Landing, with Oberyn’s duel, you can expect there to be some tension in Dorne. Myrcella’s role in season 5 is explained a bit more in HBO’s press release:
Myrcella Baratheon is officially the eldest child of Cersei Lannister and the late King Robert Baratheon, though in truth her father is Cersei’s own brother, Jaime Lannister. For years, she has been a guest and ward of Prince Doran, betrothed to his son, but her position has become tenuous with the death of Oberyn Martell, the Prince’s brother.
Check out the awesome, and kind of sad, Vine posted by the previous actress of Myrcella, Aimee Richardson.
So what do you think of this recasting? Are you excited to see a new actress taking on the mantle of Myrcella Baratheon?
