There has been two new additions to the Game of Thrones cast for season 4.
Our first new cast member is Elizabeth Webster who will be taking on the role of Walda Frey, the wife of Lord Roose Bolton. I find it very interesting that they decided to cast anyone for the role of Walda Frey, as she was never an important character in the books. Like honestly she barely gets mentioned in the books. WinterisComing shared a link showing that Elizabeth would be making her appearance in episode 2 of season 4.
Our second new actress is Lu Corfield who has been cast as a Moles Town madame. My guess is that she will be taking on the role of Zei, or some writers equivalent of her. But most likely she will be no one from the books and completely created for the sole purpose of the show.
MASSIVE A STORM OF SWORD SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! DO NOT PASS!!! SERIOUSLY YOU DON’T WANNA RUIN THIS!!!
So now that’s its just us book readers I can start giving my real predictions for what I see these two actresses doing.
The fact that they cast Elizabeth to play Fat Walda is a little puzzling to me. She is almost irrelevant in the entire story, at least so far. I think what might happen is we’ll get the line from the Roose a little earlier that he has become oddly fond of her. Then she might (going out on a limb here, with this one) take the role of Merrett Frey. For those who don’t remember he is the POV at the end of A Storm of Swords. Now I would feel a whole lot more confident in this theory if she was scheduled to be seen in an episode closer to the end because I don’t think we’ll get the Lady StoneHeart reveal until the end. The fact that she’s been cast to be in episode 2, leads me to believe she will just a nobody in the background standing next to Roose.
So that leaves our Moles Town madame, I personally hope she will be Zei. For those who don’t remember Zei she was one of the Mole Town whores who fled to the Wall and helped defend it against the attack. Until she was sent to Moles Town to recruit the town folk to help on the fight, she fled to never to been again long with the rest of the Moles Town people. I think it would be good for the show watchers to see this person become someone you cheer for, and then actually disapoint the viewer with their decision. It would prepare (I believe at least) the viewer for things that are to come.
