Over at George R.R. Martin’s “Not a Blog”, he has just posted the release date on a cross-genre anthology he is co-editing, along with Gardner Dozois, which will also include his own novella “The Princess and The Queen”. And unlike The Winds of Winter this date isn’t extremely far away, Dangerous Women will be available in hard cover December 3rd.
When Dangerous Women was first announced, George was going to be releasing his 4th Dunk & Egg novella. If any of you are reading this and asking yourselves “Whats the Dunk and Egg series?” basically the Dunk and Egg novellas take place in Westeros 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones. If you’ve read the books and want to dive back into Westeros i strongly suggest picking up the first three books; The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight.
So the upcoming novella, The Princess and The Queen, will be involving the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war between Aegon II Targaryen and his half-sister Rhaenyra Targaryen, fighting over their fathers, Viserys I Targaryen, throne. This story should be great insight into this historical event, as well as be a great read until The Winds of Winter is released.
